And while you're busy reminiscing over gameplay of yesteryear, you'll really need to get yourself into the mindset of a time when everything was simpler, lest you become a little bored. Without paying attention to any of the side-quests the game offers and just plugging through the main dungeons - you'll still need to put in some serious hours to complete it. There's a lot more to work through here than you'll remember from retro games of the past. You'll have to battle monsters, solve puzzles and then defeat a boss within each dungeon to retrieve the orbs - often where you'll also pick up new weapons - like the all-too-familiar boomerang in the first temple. Each orb is held within a temple - which serve as the games dungeons. You'll recognize all the elements of the 8-bit era, but with this added third-dimension that really makes it quite fun to revisit. The gameplay is sort of a weird mish-mash of Zelda and any one of the Lego games. You play as the descendant of the Hero that saved the land many years ago - and entrusted with the task of retrieving the orbs again. However an evil Dark Bishop known as 'Fuelle' is repeating evil acts of the past and has stolen six magical orbs, throwing the kingdom into chaos. The Kingdom of 'Dotnia' was stuck in the tired 2D realm, so the land's King decreed one day that it would thereafter exist in 3D. But it's peppered with humorous text-dialogue throughout to remind you that the devs are simply poking fun and paying tribute to a classic that they clearly have a lot of love for. Yeah, the game is very clear about its inspirations -unashamedly so. It all lends itself heavily towards original Zelda - but in a way that's so obvious, you'll quickly realize that this is really more of a loving parody or homage, rather than a blatant rip-off.
